Capital Food Blitz Takes the Region by Storm
We’re excited to announce that our recent Capital Food Blitz initiative raised upwards of 85,000 pounds of food in 29 local Loblaws, Metro and Superstore locations in late June! During these typically lean summer months, customers really came together to fill our donation bags and continue the fight against community hunger. Thanks to Yasir Naqvi, Liberal MPP for Ottawa Centre and founder of Capital Food Blitz, along with Provincial and Federal Members of Parliament, City Council, members of the Ottawa Gatineau Hotel Association and dozens of inspired volunteers for their assistance in making the Capital Food Blitz a great success!
Food Aid Program Gets Beefed Up!
Thank you to everyone who made Food Aid Day on June 4 an incredible success! Thanks to 580 CFRA's radiothon, The WORKS' BBQ, and support from over a dozen partners, more than $102,000 was raised to buy beef from local farmers that will then be distributed to Ottawa's needy.
